Winter Emergency
Our nation is struggling through a severe economic crisis. So this year —and especially at this time of year — the need for our services is greater than ever. In many U.S. cities, 23 percent of all requests for emergency shelter go unmet. On any given night as many as 700,000 American men, women and children are homeless and children are particularly hard hit by poverty, representing a full 35 percent of this nation’s poor.
At Volunteers of America, we help families 365 days a year, but right now, we are especially concerned about meeting the needs of the cold and hungry people who will be turning to us in the coming weeks. Please help us during this emergency by making a very special gift to help a family or individual in their struggle for warmth and sustenance. Your gift will mean comfort, food and an important first step toward stability and self-sufficiency for a man, women or child.
