Born with multiple disabilities, Angela Reid, 27, has been cared for by her parents in Dallas-Fort Worth. “She’s deaf and non-ambulatory,” says her mother Donna Gotcher. “She has limited vision, she’s non-verbal and incontinent. I don’t think a night has gone by in the last 27 years when she hasn’t crawled into my lap to be rocked.” Volunteers of America staff take Angela shopping, horseback riding and swimming. Our respite care has provided the family breaks for a relaxing afternoon ballgame or vacation.
